As of 2026, more than 50 countries offer official digital nomad or remote work visa programs. The programs vary enormously in income requirements, application complexity, duration, and what you actually get. Some give you a path to residency. Others are essentially just a premium-priced tourist visa extension. Here is the complete current list — with the filters that actually matter.
Europe
Europe has the densest concentration of nomad visa programs, driven partly by the popularity of the region and partly by the economic case for attracting high-income remote workers.
- Portugal D8 Visa — €180 fee. €3,040/month income. 1 year renewable. Path to 5-year residency and citizenship. Currently the most applied-for globally.
- Spain Digital Nomad Visa — €120 fee. €2,646/month income. 1 year renewable. Path to 5-year residency.
- Greece Digital Nomad Visa — €75 fee. €3,500/month income. 1 year renewable.
- Croatia Digital Nomad Residence Permit — €80 fee. €2,300/month income. 1 year.
- Hungary White Card — €110 fee. €2,000/month income. 1 year.
- Iceland Remote Work Visa — ISK 15,000 fee. €88,000/year income. 6 months.
- Germany Freelance Visa (§21 AufenthG) — not officially a nomad visa but widely used; complex; requires field-specific documentation.
Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean
Outside Europe, the programs vary widely in cost and ease. Some are genuinely excellent (Colombia, Georgia). Others are expensive and limited (Caribbean "stamp" visas).
- Georgia — no formal nomad visa. Visa-free for 95+ nationalities for up to 365 days. No income requirement. 1% flat tax option. The easiest legal setup globally.
- Colombia V-Visa — $55 fee. ~$750/month income. 2 years renewable.
- Costa Rica DN Visa — $253 fee. $3,000/month income. 2 years. Latin America's most robust program.
- Thailand DTV Visa — $270 fee. No income minimum. 5 years, 180-day entry with 180-day extension. The best package in Asia.
- Indonesia E33G Second Home Visa — $2,000 fee. $2,000/month income. 5 years. Specifically designed for the Bali nomad market.
- UAE Remote Work Visa — $287 fee. $5,000/month income. 1 year. 0% income tax.
- Barbados, Bermuda, Cayman Islands — boutique remote work programs; fees $1,000–2,000; primarily for high earners wanting Caribbean lifestyle.
- South Africa — no formal nomad visa; 90-day visa-free entry widely used; fast internet and strong infrastructure in Cape Town.
